On Thursday, 30th of January at 7 pm, Helen Tago will open her solo exhibition “The Geometry of Perception” at Tütar gallery.
Helen Tago (1980) works in various graphic techniques, with a focus on intaglio and experimentation. Her works intertwine psychological states with human-made landscapes in prints that often acquire a site-specific and spatial dimension. Helen Tago studied printmaking at the Estonian Academy of Arts, graduating with a BA in 2004. Tago is a founding member of graafika.ee studio & gallery and has been an active member of the Association of Estonian Printmakers since 2016.
Art historian Elnara Taidre remarks in the exhibition’s accompanying text: “Tago’s works often transcend the two-dimensionality characteristic of graphic sheets, creating reliefs and structures that extend beyond the superficiality of the exhibition walls and sometimes even dynamically invade the space. Behind the material quest of Tago’s works lies the artist’s conceptual and philosophical stance – contemplations on the communicative power of printmaking in the context of contemporary art and its potential as a means of interpreting the world.”
